Developing an intellectual team based organization is a complex and challenging process.

The first step is to ascertain how far your organization has progressed along the road to becoming a team-based organization. The material contained in video one is designed to stimulate thought and discussion to help you understand the scope and scale of the challenge.

You will then be able to define the organizational changes that will be necessary to create a team based culture within your organization.

Throughout these sessions you should use the realities within your own organization as the basis for consultation, applying the principles that are presented in the programmes to stimulate thought and change.

Building a successful team based organization is achieved in two specific stages.

The first stage involves changing the organization to create and empower the entity of the team.

The second stage deals with the efficient intellectual functioning of the team by focussing on the responsibilities and behaviour of the individual.

The transition to an intellectual team based organization requires the establishment of teams as institutions with devolved powers and authority within the context of the whole organization.

This process of formalising the team and devolving real executive power to the team is an essential first step, without which the power of the team based organization will never be realised.

The process of devolving power to the team represents the greatest single obstacle.

The holders of power within the organization will have the greatest difficulty with this fact as they come to terms with the reality that intellectual teamwork is significantly better equipped to administer the affairs of the organization than any one individual.
